Feelings, "Hunches" and the Quest for Luck
For anyone interested in directly observing an environment (and the “actors” within it) that is totally dominated by the search for “Luck”, casinos have a lot to offer. The “playing rules” are clear, the odds are precisely calculable for any one game (not so with the stock market or FOREX), and practically everyone there is concentrating on being “lucky”: the casino management wants to make their usual daily profit, avoiding any large, unsuspected streaks of luck on the part of big-time gamblers who may be there. The casino personnel are all hoping that the players at their table will win big, and give them a corresponding tip. And the gamblers themselves are hoping for that “lucky streak” that will enable them to leave the casino considerably richer than they were upon entering.

Of course, over the years, at some time or another, everything possible will happen:  “lucky” players will leave the casino with big bundles of money. Unlucky ones will lose everything but the shirts on their backs. Most players will suffer moderate losses, and a somewhat smaller number of people, moderate gains. If we don’t look at things any deeper than that, we’d be tempted to say that all of these individual events put together are merely due to “coincidence”.

Yet others, of a more intuitive nature, may well feel that, at least as far as the fate of the individual player is concerned, there is more than just “chance” involved.

Now, I will confess that I am not a gambler.  Not that I believe that gambling is bad – in my view, people should be allowed to do anything they want with their money, even throw it out the window.

Nonetheless, being very much interested in the “roots of luck” – an interest that developed through my involvement with serious astrology – I welcomed the idea of viewing the activities of a casino first-hand.

Back in the mid-90’s, while living in Madrid, Spain, I had a friend who occasionally liked to gamble, so he, his wife and I decided to go the local casino, just for the fun of it. I had said beforehand that I wanted to play with a very limited amount of funds, since as I said, I am no gambler! Single-zero roulette was to be our game…

During our first hour there, I must confess that I was uneasy. It was my first time in a casino; everyone else there seemed to know what they were doing, how to place bets, etc. I had studied the rules of the game (and most especially, the odds for each type of bet), yet all I could think of was that it wouldn’t be long till I would lose all the money I had brought with me.

Antonio and his wife also didn’t seem very optimistic, especially after we initially lost 4 games out of 5. We continued to play for a while, with a similar lack of success. But then, suddenly, our mood changed. We had begun to converse about other things, our moods lightened, we cracked some jokes, and the whole “atmosphere” around us seemed quite different. No sooner had this emotional change occurred, than… right, you guessed it. We began to win, and within a very short time, we had recovered all our money, and then some. Coincidence? Well, maybe, but it sure didn’t feel like it….

On another occasion, I visited the same casino with a young American friend. Eric was 23, and astrologically speaking, a typical Sagittarius: open, friendly, with a great sense of humor, and almost always enthusiastic. Eric had never been to a casino before, but when we entered, he was anything but insecure: he was in a great mood, calm but enthusiastic, and could hardly wait to play. We each went to different parts of the casino, and after about a half hour, Eric rushed up to me to tell me the news: he had won at roulette ten times in a row! At this point, he wasn’t simply enthusiastic, but overly so: excited, somewhat nervous, he could hardly wait to get back to the gambling table. This, to me, was a warning sign.

“Eric, stop now while you’re ahead!”, I advised him.

“Are you crazy? I’m on a winning streak! I’m gonna really clean up here tonight! I’m going to easily double what I’ve won already, and...

“No, Eric, you won't You're no longer balanced inside” I told him. “You’re too enthusiastic, unnaturally so. That’s a sign you should stop…”

Well, he didn’t listen, and you can guess what happened… 20 minutes later he retuned, dejected, and said he had lost everything he had previously won, and then some.

On yet another occasion, I was at the casino with Antonio and his wife again. It had been a somewhat unlucky night: we had lost what we had planned to risk; our mood had been consistently low.  As we were leaving the casino, Antonio saw an ATS machine, and decided he was going to take out some money and return to the roulette wheel, to see if he could recover his loss on one spin.

“No, don’t do it!” I told him. We’re all emotionally low right now, I don’t feel anything positive. I wouldn’t take that risk if I were you…”

Antonio was more confident than I was, but as you may already suspect, he played that final spin…and ended up doubling his losses for the night, instead of regaining them…

In all of these cases (and I’m sure that you yourselves have observed similar phenomena, either in casinos, or in other areas, like day trading, etc.), what I noticed was that certain emotions on the part of the players seemed to have an influence on the results.

Note that I didn’t say the results influenced the emotions (though this, of course, is also true).  But as we saw in the first case, though the results had been quite negative, and we would have had every reason to feel “blue”; we changed our attitude, perked up, became merry again... and started winning.

Before you dismiss this all as mere coincidence, I advise you to do some reading on what some great minds have opined about just what coincidence is. At www.astrococktail.com/PDF/PAULKA_x007E_1.pdf

you will find a fascinating article on the Austrian scientist Paul Kammerer, and his ground-breaking work “Das Gesetz der Serie” (“The Law of Seriality”). Kammerer, who was a friend of the famous physicist Wolfgang Pauli (discoverer of the Exclusion Principle), developed his “Law of the Series”, that postulated that there are “waves of seriality” - forces we do not yet understand that cause what we then perceive as “coincidences” or “groups of coincidences”.

I heartily recommend you visit the link above, for the authors of the pdf you’ll find there explain Kammerer’s ideas both clearly and concisely. And if you work your way through it, you’ll begin to see that the idea that everything that happens – even in a casino – is merely “chance” – might not be correct after all: those “feelings” that people sometimes get about what will happen may have more of a solid foundation than most people think.

OK, “feelings” and “hunches” may at times have validity (as long as they remain unclouded by nervousness, over-anxiousness, or just plain greed), but as an astrologer, I had to take it to the next level:

Assuming that emotional states could be somehow connected to “luck”, and knowing from experience that emotions are often reflected in the astrological influences at any given moment on one’s personal astrological chart – could it be that by predicting probable emotional states, we would be able to forecast lucky and unlucky times?

Over the course of  thirty-two years as an astrologer, I have seen that not only emotional states can be predicted, but also types of events. True, it is impossible to make exact predictions with astrology, of the type: “Tomorrow you will just have crossed a street, when you will run into a friend you haven’t seen in ten years, and he will invite you to lunch”. No astrologer can predict such occurrences. But we can say, for example, when it is most likely that you will feel frustrated, when events will occur that place obstacles in your path, when things will “flow” more smoothly than at other times, and the like.

In order to make predictions concerning “lucky” and “unlucky” times where finances are concerned, this should be more than enough, especially considering the fact that 100% accuracy is not needed, but only an accuracy that will make it probable that you “win” more than 50% of the time – whether at a casino, in your day trading activities, FOREX, making important business decisions, etc.

This is the mission of “Fortune Smiling”:  to help you to get into the group of the “lucky” people by giving you astrological forecasts that tell you when you should avoid making big financial decisions (whether these be related to the stock market, Forex, business, or gambling), and also, when it is most likely that you will come out ahead.
